A new data center dedicated to artificial intelligence will be built in Kanice, near Brno, Czech Republic. MasterDC plans to begin operations in the autumn of 2026 in a former military complex that includes telecommunication fallout shelters. The site stands out mainly for its high level of security.
In November, work will begin in Brno on a data center designed to support AI development in Moravia and across the Czech Republic. The announcement was made by representatives of MasterDC, the project’s investor, during Innovation Week, one of Europe’s leading events focused on innovation and artificial intelligence.
“Building a high-performance AI data center usually takes years. Because we already own the Kanice site, we can put it into operation within months. We chose this location for its security and for the opportunity to build in an environmentally responsible way, with minimal impact on the surrounding area,” says Karel Diviš, Chief Sales Officer at MasterDC, the company behind the project.
Connecting the Czech Republic to Silicon Europe
The AI Data Center project has received logistical, non-financial, support from the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the South Moravian Region, and the City of Brno. It is expected to foster innovation, attract investment, and create new high-skilled jobs in the region.
The new center will strengthen the region’s knowledge and innovation base, while also enhancing the Czech Republic’s overall capabilities in artificial intelligence.
“The Czech National Semiconductor Cluster welcomes MasterDC’s initiative, as it can provide substantial support to both our academic and industrial members in research, technology development, and chip design,” said Stanislav Černý, President of the Czech National Semiconductor Cluster.
