Oxyonline.cz Case Study – Rack Cabinet Leasing
The oXy Online www.oxyonline.cz company was in search of a new provider of rack-housing services for their servers. Since they rank among the leaders in the field of e-commerce on the Czech market and run dozens of large online shops and large number of smaller e-shops as well as several large internet magazines the company was looking for a supplier who would ensure technical support and most of all high-quality telecommunication services to the specified extent. The previous solution didn’t satisfy the company’s high demands on customer support and the placement of servers in only one location.
Orignal State
The oXy Online company only had rack-housing in Prague and the whole solution lacked a sufficient and quick customer support in case of technical difficulties or server dropouts. Therefore the company decided to improve their solution and look for a new provider of telecommunication services, who would be able to fulfill the challenging requirements and be able to provide further space for their company servers including the necessary technical support. It is of a great advantage that Master Internet has server rooms in two locations.
The Master Internet s.r.o. supplier of telecommunication services offered an exactly customized project solution and set up a suitable rach-housing program for the oXy Online company. Part of it was to be the placement of servers to two lacations, Prague and Brno, “cross”-backup, sufficient speed, high connectivity and 24/7 customer support with high feedback on behalf of the provider.
Project Realization
The project had to be realized gradually in two stages. First it was necessary to prepare the server room in Brno, to which part of the Prague servers was transferred. We are talking about the building of the necessary IT infrastructure and also about the adjustment of the existing premises. The server room was stocked with CISCO elements and servers by HP which oXy Online had been using long-term. As a firewall the system CISCO ASA and RACK servers of the DL series with a minimum warranty of 3 years were chosen.
The movement of servers from Prague to Brno took place in a way so that the shortest possible dropout would be ensured. Online shops were gradually transferred to the new servers in Brno during late night hours. The aim was of course to tie down the operation of the individual solutions as little and as short as possible. Thanks to the right preparations it was possible to narrow dowen the service dropouts to minimum.
The Master Internet Solution
The result is leased racks in to locations, Prague and Brno, where oXy Online places its servers to. Both locations are directly interconnected by a dedicated line which guarantees the agreed data transmission efficiency even during operation at peak hours. Moreover it is possible to “cross”-backup data and thus insure against possible dropouts and sever failures.
The oXy Online company has its business premises in Brno, whioch is why the choice of the second location was self-evident. Placing the servers close to the office was also very important for further works with the servers. One of the most fundamental advantages of the Master Internet solution is their customer support which operates on site 24 hours a day and seven days a week.
The introduction of the Master Internet rack-housing program and the opening of the new server room in Brno brought several essential advantages for oXy Online. On the one hand the local server availability improved significantly, on the other hand the servers are under permanent supervision and it is possible to ask for immediate technical support. Moreover the server room capacity increased and thus also chances of chances of company growth; both the back-up possibilities and and the connectivity of the solution improved.
